The Steps

This was our eighth year visiting "By the Steps." As usual, everything met the expectations that we have enjoyed over the years. AND we look forward to our next stay. It's perfect for two couples and certainly unchallenged for location. Everything to enjoy in Hope Town is within walking distance.

The house was everything we needed, and the location was perfect. Steps from the dock, the beach, and the heart of Hopetown. Arrival and departure were easy, and the stay was wonderful.

This is my twelfth time to rent from Elbow Cay Properties and have been pleased with the consistency and customer service. I want to buy a home, but our experiences renting are so positive, we keep coming back!

We loved By The Steps!! Both the main living area and the master bedroom have gorgeous views of the Lighthouse and Hopetown Harbor. The location is convenient to everything; the historic town, the Hopetown Lodge and the beach!! Having a personal dock right in front of the house is the best!! It is a newer house for this historic town and all the bathrooms and kitchen and windows are up to date! All the amenities are there for the perfect stay in Hopetown!!! We can't wait to return to this lovely island, the charming people of Hopetown and this perfect island house!!

Loved, loved, loved this place. The location was ideal for access to town as well as trips to the south end of the island and having a private dock was great. There was also always space in front of the house for our golf cart rental. Lying in our bedroom I had gorgeous views of the harbor and could even keep an eye on our dinghy at the dock and sailboat on a mooring. The house was clean and well kept, plenty of cooking items in the kitchen and the porches were really nice. Out the back it was an easy walk down to the ocean beach. I would highly recommend

Couple of problems. The WiFi is really almost non existent

Also when first looked at house last year one of the drawing points was the hammock in the crows nest. Well it had bee taken down. It was on the porch two floors down. Asked two times to have put up but never did It was just too dangerous for us to take up the small steps
Also the cable box missing from upstairs tv. Was told would be a week before could get another one so we shud just take one from living area upstairs. This was not a good answer asour kids needed it too.
In the past we have not had one problem that did not get fixed immediately But not in this case.

This was our 8th year staying "By The Steps." There are two couples in our party. We had our usually pleasant stay and enjoyed everything that the house has to offer. Everything is "as advertised." The location is superb; the furnishings are very good and comfortable; the atmosphere is spacious and very welcoming. And we are looking forward to coming back next year!

We've rented 5 different houses in Hope Town, this was the best.

Screens were inoperative for the front door and french doors, so there were lots of mosquitos.

Cushions on the bar stools have absorbed moisture, so you get damp sitting on them.

Location is unparalleled with incredible raised views of the harbour, lighthouse and sea. The view from the main bedroom is from a film. The house was absolutely spotless.

The only downsides were the dock space which is very, very tight at low tide and needs extreme care to manoeuvre in. Your prop needs to be nearly out of the water.

I’d also confirm other reviews, we would happily have paid more to have an updated interior which would make the house one of the best rentals on the island. We would however happily rent again.

Elbow Cay Rentals are the only business in the Caribbean which doesn’t work in “Island Time”. We have rented from them before and if they say they are going to do something it gets done with military timing which is very comforting.
