Lavender Cottage

We had a fabulous time at Lavender Cottage. The house was clean and well maintained. There was plenty of space for my husband and I and our 3 adult kids plus partners - total of 7 of us had plenty of space and privacy. The additional kitchen upstairs would work well if two families were renting. We didn’t use it at all. The kitchen had the basic equipment but we felt that it could use a few additional things such as a cheese grater a garlic press and a better blender. Living spaces need more seating and reading lamps. There was air-conditioning worked well in different areas. We preferred to use ceiling fans however, the ceiling fans and remotes need recalibrating as they didn’t work properly and wires were crossed - we were consistently turning each other’s bedroom fans and lights on and off.
Ron the caretaker was great and helped us get settled and checked in after one week to allow us access to the laundry machines and make sure we had enough water. We had an issue with the bbq and Ron promptly installed a new one for us. There were plenty of indoor towels/hand towels and facecloths as well as a beach towel for each of us.
Location was fantastic. Steps away from everything. We spent hours watching the yachts, ferries and boats come and go in and out of the harbour. It was endlessly entertaining- sunsets and the view of the lighthouse all lit up for Christmas all from our huge deck that was like our very own personal workout space/ alfresco dining room and dance floor. The upper deck was a great way to get away from the action for some quiet and the view even better.
We spent time on North Beach, but mostly the town beach, rented bikes and cycled and carted to get groceries at LVA and In and Out. Spent time at Tahiti beach, On da Beach, swam laps in the town pool, played pickleball, lunches poolside at Seaspray and Hope Town Inn and Marina. Bingo and Trivia at Capt’n Jack’s. Super fun times. Lavender Cottage was amazing. Beach and community pool were perfect! Don't swim in the bay at night (after or around sunset). There are 6-10 foot sharks that cruise the bayside. Easy to avoid that hour- This home is the perfect oasis for the heat. We were here for Bahamian Independence Day and the fireworks view was top notch! Festival was fun & the teens loved the local spots. Ron (the caretaker) was very helpful and knows lots about the island. Our stay was amazing! Bike rental was perfect- no golf cart needed.

We had an amazing time hopping around all the spots in the Abacos. Drinks at Grabbers, drinks at Nippers, drinks at Pete's Pub, drinks at pretty much everywhere! Nothing can beat these white sand beaches and Gatorade blue waters. Tahiti Bech and drinks from Thirsty Cuda quickly became one of our favorite spots-definitely a 'must do' when here. We had Bingo cards with activities to check off during our trip and there are still many we have left to do, so I guess we will have to come back! So many fun things and so little time. From enjoying delicious meals and drinks, to rough runs on the boat, this week could not have been better making memories with lifelong friends. The Lavender Cottage was the perfect spot for our stay with great kitchen and dining spaces all with an amazing view of the candy-striped lighthouse sitting g on the edge of the world. We love Hope Town and we will be back!

This property is perfectly located at the inlet to Hopetown Harbor with spectacular sunset views at the Hopetown Lighthouse from the large deck and patio. The house is perfectly and comfortably furnished with all the comforts needed for a great vacation. It couldn’t be better located at the edge of the settlement close to all the businesses and marinas. The ocean beach is a 5 minute stroll out the front door down a shady lane. It doesn’t get better than this!
